Well howdy doooooo, meepcakes was featured in the July issue of Winston-Salem's skirt! magazine. How cool! And as soon as Julian, my six year old son, saw it he said, "Ohhhhhh, nobody ever puts me in magazines." As if it were something that happened all the time to me.

Did you know that meepcakes has a facebook page, as well as a twitter page?  It's true. I don't know how I managed to put those up, considering that I like the technology I use to be on the same skill level as a microwave, but I did it.

This market season has been lots of fun so far, and quite a learning experience. I've met so many cool new people and I'm figuring out how to run a bakery as a business rather than something I do for fun. For example, I learned that if you make beautiful cupcakes in an air conditioned environment but then bring them to an open air market that's eleventy-billion degrees outside and try to sell them, passers by will give you looks of mixed pity and disgust. Poor buttercream frosting. It just doesn't stand a chance in heat and humidity. But cookies do hold up in the heat, and have turned out to be a crowd favorite. One day when I have a storefront, cupcakes and cookies can coexist in harmony and air conditioning.

I hope you're all having a wonderful summer, and look forward to seeing you at the market! Stop by and say hi. Hugs and high fives are free to all.
